“I’m proud that I made a big career move and negotiated a promotion while pregnant and on maternity leave. I was interviewing at 8 months pregnant and 3 weeks postpartum, which are two of the more terrifying things I’ve done in my life. I didn’t think anyone would take me seriously, especially because 90% of my interviews were with 100% men, but I kept showing up.
I wanted to be able to tell my daughters someday that you can do this—you can make moves and make babies. I think there’s this myth that when you’re a working woman and you get pregnant, you should stay put, stay quiet, and hold on to your job for dear life. And I’m tired of that story.”
